Way to go Gene! You have shown that you are just like any body else.
You just do things alittle differently than others thats all. As an adult with CP & socolisis I know of the issues you face daily. Thanks for bringing to light that WE CAN DO IT YES WE CAN!

Thank you all for your best wishes! Just a quick response to the Doenges family. If you would like to send your donation to our Trek address, we will make sure camp receives your generosity, and knows that it came from you and Gene. You can find the address on the website.

Dear Michael,
We are a family living in Friday Harbor WA and have ties to Michigan. I (Dad/Tom) grew up outside of Detroit and spent MANY summers in the U.P. I have family living just outside of Detroit and in a 50 mile radius of Detroit. We just read about your story on MSN news and would like to extend our congratulations for not only making your goal of $20,000, but also for tenaciously working so hard to save your camp! Our seven year old Levi, is sitting on my lap while I type this to you and can’t wait to help by contributing as well. My wife and Levi are adding suggestions on what to say, so this truly a family effort back to you.
We wish to send your camp a donation of $100.00 in your honor… what is the best way to insure and achieve this; so the camp knows it is in part, a reflection of your hard work and efforts that brings our hearts out tonight to you!
All of our best to you and your family and friends at camp and keep up the good work!
Thank you to your Dad for following close behind at 5 miles an hour… we have a 1985 pickup that is hard to keep going at less than around 10-15 mile per hour… we would have to use the brake a lot! J
With much pride and love from the Doenges!
Tom,Tami, and Levi

Dear Gene,
Found your story on the news down here in Texas and was just THRILLED at what you accomplished!!! My 15 year old son also has CP and is going to CAMP camp (that's the name of it if you want to look it up) this year. This will be his first year going and we are all excited! Your story was very inspiring to us as we know how costly these camps can be with all the staffing and everything. We couldn't afford for him to go until this year, but he's SO excited and I KNOW he will have a great time and we will make it a priority to get him there every year from now on. Your story just proves to me how important and enjoyable it is for you that you are willing to "Trek" that distance!! Talk about motivation!!!! Have a wonderful time at camp and I'm passing this on to to Sean's Therapists and Teachers here to view!!! Good luck in your future "Treks". Jacqueline Mills

Wish we could have been there to follow along on your trek it would have been fun. Enjoy the rest of your summer and have fun at camp, will see you at school in the fall.
